West Lothian Association of Youth Football Clubs

We are affiliated to the South East Region, which is also affiliated to the SYFA. In contrast to other Associations, we continue to grow both in terms of numbers and status and for season 2010-11 we now administer for 6 age groups (13's, 14's, 15's, 16's, 17's and 19's) encompassing over 120 eleven-a-side teams and over 2500 players and officials. We believe through SFA directives and new coaching methods, players of all ages can compete enthusiastically in a controlled and organized environment.

Our hope is to develop every player at every age group using their Skills, Tactical Awareness, Physical Strength and Mental Toughness through competition. Our aim is that the individual can be the best they can and that the Association can maintain the strong interest in competitive eleven-a-side football in West Lothian at all ability levels.

Touchline Shouting

Touchline shouting, that's all I ever  hear,
I'm so confused and filled with fear.
I'm only ten years old and  football should be fun,
But with all this noise I don't know which way to  run.
"Get back in defence!" my manager shouts.
Dad shouts, "Get up front  and deal with these louts!"
Loud mouth supporter, who knows all the  rules.
(He takes the rest of us for fools)
Shouts, "What are you doing  lad? Your head's in a spin!"
Is it any surprise, with all this din?

I  am only a boy, so why do you all try to destroy, what I'd love to  enjoy?
FOOTBALL SHOULD BE FUN!

articleSomething to wish for at the start of a new season

and in no particular order.................

Great games to watch and enjoy.

A mild winter.

Accepting honest calls made by a ref who doesn't deserve any abuse from the touchlines

Cracking goals

Great saves

Last minute winners

First minute goals to bring a game alive

No swearing at the ref

Low number of bookings and sending offs

Boys shaking hands at the end of the games

No parents losing the plot

Same number of teams at the end of the season

Success in Regional or Scottish or decent cup runs

30 yards strikes

low number of goal keeping blunders

Hot coffee and tea on the touchlines

No late call off's

High scoring thrillers

No 0-0 draws

Our boys playing the game because they enjoy it and want to do well.

Love it or moan about it WLAYFC provides the background and structure for all our boys to develop, compete, train and stay fit.

And hats off to everyone for the time and effort they put in. From the parents, the coaches, the secretaries, the guys who manage the forum and everyone else.

Let's support our own boys and our teams and keep respect for the opposition.
